USSR, 1983. The spacecraft returns to Earth, but they hide from people that out of two astronauts, only one can be considered alive. What happened on board remains a mystery, but evidence suggests that the astronauts encountered a new life form, and the survivor did not return entirely alone. Neurophysiologist Tatyana Klimova is brought to a secret military base where cosmonaut Konstantin Veshnyakov is kept under strict control and surveillance to assess his condition.
