Orlando (1992)
XVII century, London. Orlando is an aristocratic youth, androgynous in the fashion of the time, and seriously determined to transform life, about which he knows so little, into art, about which he knows even less. Orlando attracts the attention of the aging Queen Elizabeth I, and Her Majesty orders him not to grow up or grow old. Orlando complies, inexplicably remaining rosy-cheeked and handsome despite the passage of centuries.
City of Lost Children (1995)
Not far from the harbor of the damp and fog-shrouded gloomy City of Lost Children, in a castle on the seashore lives a terrible scientist named Krank, prematurely aged due to a complete inability to sleep. On Krank's orders, his Cyclops henchmen kidnap the children and drag them into a gloomy laboratory, where the villainous scientist turns their dreams into his own. But because the children are terribly afraid of him, he only sees their nightmares. The circus strongman One comes to the City in search of his missing younger brother. He is helped by a brave nine-year-old girl, Miette, and her brigade of little resistance fighters.
Celluloid Closet (1995)
The film is dedicated to the topic of homoeroticism in the cinema of English-speaking countries. This is an essay about how non-traditional sexual relationships were shown on screen, from Edison's silent film to such famous films as Philadelphia and Basic Instinct.
Run Lola Run (1998)
Lola and Manni live in Berlin and are madly in love with each other. And when Munny, the big bandit's little courier, loses his boss's bag of money, only Lola can save him. But to get the not-so-small sum of one hundred thousand marks, the girl has only 20 minutes. Every second can mean the difference between life and death.
Salt Lake City Punk (1998)
If you grew up in America, then rebellion against the world is in your blood. And if you're also Stevo, and you're living in Reagan-era Salt Lake City, then... your rebellion will come out a little more. Peace is his enemy, anarchy is his religion. You go on an exciting journey through his life, and along the way you meet punks, posers, mods, freaks, drug addicts and other personalities. Stevo's father, a former hippie, believes that his life is wasted and convinces his son to enroll in Harvard Law School, from which he himself graduated. But Stevo, under his seemingly impenetrable armor of mohawk, earrings and leather, has a lot on his mind. The question arises: how to preserve your individuality and live in society?
The Devil's Backbone (2001)
A frightening story about 12-year-old Carlos, who, after the death of his father, ends up in the Santa Lucia school under the care of headmistress Carmen and Professor Casares. The boy's father was a rebel killed in battle against the Franco regime. And although the orphanage is overloaded with a large number of children, the school director sympathetically receives young Carlos.
