Detectives from the afterlife department investigate crimes on the other side of the grave and chase overzealous evil spirits. A young cop, who after his death at the hands of an unknown attacker ended up in another world, in exchange for help in investigating his own murder, undertakes to devote the next hundred years to serving in the RIPD and, having received a brutal shooter from the era of Westerns as a partner, goes out to fight the restless evil.
