Pink Floyd: The Wall
An extraordinary film document, live action built on the songs of the legendary Pink Floyd album "The Wall." In the LP composed in 1979, there is a story in notes and words transformed by Alan Parker into a celluloid reflection on the difficulties of life, the delirium given by success and the madness triggered by pain. It is the parable of Pink (Bob Geldof), a famous drug-addicted rock singer who, just before performing, thinks back on his entire existence, originating flashbacks made up of animated hallucinations and a long series of oddities. The music of Pink Floyd pervades from beginning to end a narrative generated from a hodgepodge of Roger Waters' ideas, pills of autobiography rendered in images in an incredible fusion of on-set scenes, fiction, reality and surreal world. The film was shown out of competition at the 35th Cannes Film Festival, offering a unique and sensational spectacle at the premiere. The cast also included Bob Hoskins and Joanne Whalley.
