A wave of brutal murders has swept through the city, with defenseless people becoming victims. Another girl, Sidney Prescott, may become the new victim of a telephone maniac from the town of Woodsboro. A year ago, her mother was raped and killed, and now the maniac is threatening her. But in the first night battle with the killer, the girl was able to escape. The police find a mask and a raincoat at the scene of the assassination attempt.
