Russia, 18th century. On the edge of Rus', in the Carpathian Mountains, stands the Spassky Monastery, where the confessor of Empress Elizabeth, Monk Laurus, was exiled. No one knew what secrets he took with him from the capital St. Petersburg. And the region to which he was exiled was considered troubled since ancient times; legends were composed about it and told only in a whisper. They said that in those parts there lived an evil spirit that had remained there since the time of the Turkish raids... Years later, Andrei, the godson of Empress Elizabeth herself, arrives from St. Petersburg for the Laurel. In the Carpathians, Andrei encounters the strange, frightening and unusual, which his rational mind cannot explain. He also meets true love, for the sake of which he enters into battle with supernatural evil.
