Description

1890s, somewhere off the coast of New England. A young man, Ephraim Winslow, arrives on a remote island to work as the new assistant to the lighthouse keeper, lame and bearded drinker Thomas Wake. He treats his subordinate as a personal slave and forbids him to climb the lighthouse itself and control the light. Ephraim does not let go of his own past, so the guy who initially refused alcohol increasingly drinks the bottle, and soon on the rocky island - either in his imagination or in reality - all sorts of devilry begins to happen.
