A nine-year-old boy witnesses a brutal murder: right in front of his eyes, two people mercilessly stabbed a young man to death in the toilet of a Philadelphia train station. It turns out that the murdered man was an undercover agent of the drug department. Now the boy is the only witness who can help detective John Book find the criminals. The face of one killer is forever etched in childhood memory. And the boy saw him again when he was brought to testify at the local police station - he saw the photo of the killer on the police department honor board. From this moment on, the hunt begins for the little witness and his only defender, Inspector Beech.
