France, second half of the 18th century. In a place called Zhevadan, a terrible creature appears, nicknamed the Beast by the residents, and it mercilessly kills women and children. The beast seems elusive, evading numerous raids, bullets do not take it, it disappears as suddenly as it appears, and only a few survivors are able to describe its appearance. King Louis XV himself decides to understand what is happening and instructs the scientist Gregor de Fronsac to investigate the brutal murders.
